Back to Projects

We have provided strategic project management in addition to structural and civil engineering design on this mixed use residential development scheme on a former industrial site fronting the Thames.

The scheme comprises over 650 residential units, a hotel, leisure and retail facilities regenerating a 5 hectare brownfield site.

Construction of the first phase of the development started in 2008, comprising 5 blocks up to seven storeys with basement car parking providing apartments and townhouses for private sale, shared ownership and affordable rent.

The project has several logistical challenges: designing for increased river levels in the future; use of the river for the movement of materials; maintaining river walk access during construction; relocation of an operational boatyard; and phasing of the works to limit disruption to the area.

Construction has so far consisted of reinforced concrete and timber framing. Ground source heat pumps provide heating and hot water and a combination of ‘green’ and ‘brown’ roofs attract local wildlife to the area. The development has achieved a ‘Very Good’ rating in accordance with the BREAAM assessment and the team will strive to achieve Excellent in the further phases of the development.
