The 17-strong Otterpool Park Place Panel will provide independent expert advice to the council and act as a ‘critical friend’ as plans for the Garden Town move ahead. Leader of the Council, Cllr David Monk, said the panel had a key role in helping the council get things right from the start. “These are leading professionals bringing experience and expertise in urban design and masterplanning, town planning, landscape design, social infrastructure, sustainability and innovation, transport; housing and heritage. “We want to create a place where future generations will want to live and work; with carefully designed homes that are within easy walking, cycling and commuting distance of local jobs. A place set amid woodland and natural habitats and with the benefit of cutting edge design, low carbon, low waste and low water use. “To achieve all this, expert input right from the start is essential.”
The Place Panel will start work early in the New Year by reviewing the framework masterplan for Otterpool Park – and then continue to advise the council to make sure the Garden Town is a place fit for the future.
