Expedition was commissioned to produce a detailed feasibility assessment for a combined heat and power network for the North Kensington Academy and Leisure Centre site.
Our role included the evaluation of heat and electricity demand across the existing masterplan, a survey of existing building refurbishment paths and evaluation of compatibility with a new CHP system.
We reviewed proposals for new buildings within the scope of the masterplan in terms of energy performance and looked at compatibility of energy generation technologies with the CHP system.
As a key part of developing a successful energy strategy for the site, we carried out stakeholder engagement sessions with the client, local authority assets team, fund holders, residents and design teams.
Cost benefit studies and an assessment of different financing options for a new CHP scheme were produced, drawing on lessons learned from Olympic procurement.
The findings of the study were carefully presented in a way which the council could use to help secure private funding for the project.
“I have received very good feedback from different people on the work Expedition has done.” Ana Perez, Senior Planning Policy Officer Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
