Lee Valley Ice Centre
Expedition carried out the design up to tender at Stage 3, and now have a client monitoring role for LVRPA and Wren Bridge which has covered the detailed design and construction phase
After many years of design and planning, it is great to see LVRPA Lee Valley Ice Centre going up in earnest, with the long span trusses being lifted in by BUCKINGHAM GROUP earlier this week. The lightweight trusses were selected at an early stage to efficiently resolve the long spans over the Olympic sized ice pads. Designed to balance serviceability and strength requirements in perfect harmony, the trusses allow for integration with building services in a material and cost-efficient way, keeping the overall height of the building to a minimum.
We may be biased, but we think that architecturally exposed trusses will look pretty striking above the ice pads when in operation!
