The Bridgewater Triangle proposals deliver a key portion of the Olympic Legacy Communities programme in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. The highly sustainable development will be landscape led, celebrating its ‘island’ setting between the Waterworks and City Mill Rivers. With approximately 575 homes, of which a minimum 40% are affordable, a key aim for the family neighbourhood has been to enhance the public realm and create an enjoyable place to live and visit.

Working with Mikhail Riches for the LLDC, Expedition have provided a wide range of expertise to develop the masterplan scheme for an outline planning submission, with a focus on embedding sustainable strategies into the masterplan.

This has included:

  • Sustainability and Environmental Masterplanning, Carbon Consultancy
  • Structural and Civil Engineering, including Bridge design
  • Utilities Design
  • Sustainable Drainage and Flood Risk Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement

In parallel with the wider masterplan, Expedition were the principal designer and project lead for a detailed planning application of the replacement bridge to the site, working with William Matthews Associates. This includes renovations to the existing river wall structures and a new, publicly accessible towpath and landscaped embankment, working with BBUK.

Both the masterplan and infrastructure applications were submitted for planning permission in the Summer of 2021, with an expected start on site at the end of 2024.
