Expedition was commissioned to provide strategic advice to the University of Lincoln to support their achievement of carbon reduction requirements for Higher Education institutions.
Specifically, we carried out modelling of energy use in existing buildings across the Campus and compared this with benchmark data. We used this data to prepare a replacement and maintenance strategy and provided recommendations on specifications for energy efficient new build development. This included specific input into the development of designs for a new laboratory and science centre.
We prepared a heat map for the site and carried out an appraisal of appropriate technologies for a local heat network. This included plant sizing, identifying strategic infrastructure routes, and location and form of an energy centre. In addition to the technical elements of the scheme appraisal, we also provided estimates of whole life cost and carbon, energy security, advice on procurement routes, operation and maintenance arrangements.
Expedition subsequently provided support to assist the implementation of recommendations for carbon management across the campus.
